Thanks for visiting the site. I’m Volunteer Mike. I live on Hilton Head Island and for the past three years I have been an active and committed volunteer at Memory Matters, regularly working alongside many similarly committed people who devote significant time and share their life skills to benefit our brain wellness and associated memory care programs and classes.
I have also served as a volunteer on the Board of Directors for the past two years.
We work under the direction of professionally qualified Memory Care Specialists, who direct the programs, and take part in the exciting and enjoyable programs designed by Memory Matters that has, for nearly twenty years, been advocated as the leading memory care resource in the Low Country.
I find this a most enjoyable and rewarding vocation. The families who entrust their loved ones to our care are special people who deserve our unwavering assistance in living with the challenge of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
I aim to provide an interesting and transparent insight to our memory care resource, including the daily Compass social day care program for people with mild to moderate degrees of dementia, and the more challenging Connections classes for those with mild memory loss or a recently diagnosed case of demetia. I endeavor to demonstrate that both “Compass” and “Connections” can make a huge difference to the lives of many. During the hours that our clients are attending either the Compass program or Connections class we are also helping care givers gain valuable respite time and we do provide personalized professional counseling and facilitated support groups too. These crucial sessions are led by a highly experienced Licensed Counselor.
Compass and Connections are at the heart of our services but we also provide a much more holistic range of Brain Health Services including Memory Fest seminars, Brain Boosters courses to help us maintain healthy brains, and many other lifestyle presentations focused on interventions to promote good brain health.
From time to time I will also bring you other real life stories that are either relevant to Memory care or have a social impact that I hope you find interesting.
Please share this if you believe it could help someone.
